This is a pretty crappy painting that I did last year so I will put it up to motivate me into doing (and actually finishing) better paintings!

Global awareness seminar course

I decided this year that I would do a global awareness course run by Suas. It is run in a lot of the major Universities in Ireland and as it was running in Maynooth I said that I would give it a go and I'm delighted I did. It's been absolutely brilliant; It's really opened my eyes and I've learnt so much through it.

Every week we have a different speaker on a range of various topics including Aid, trade, development, the environment and other issues like these. All of the speakers so far have been excellant but the best thing I think that you can get from this is meeting other people doing the course. As these seminars are very interactive you get chatting with others about the relevant issues and it's been this way that I have learnt the most. Everyone has the same aim or ideas about but also coming from a different academic background sheds a very interesting light on the issues at hand.

I'd say the main thing that really jumps out at me is the unbelievable unequality that exists in the world. I've known it before as I think everyone does, but knowledge and comprehension are quite different. I'm not saying that I now know and understand the problems of the world, ha.. definately not. But I do know a little more than I previously did and its enough to make me let other people know what I have found out and try and make little changes in my lifestyle so that we can bring some sort of a change to this ridiculous world.
